The Varsity and JV soccer games vs St. Joseph Central on September 26th have swapped starting times. Varsity will begin at 5:00 pm and JV will follow at approximately 6:30.
Varsity needs to be ready to warm-up at West at 4:15 and JV is to arrive at West at 5:00.
We need a 3/4 – 1 ton Truck AND Driver to haul 16 foot trailer. Will Coates has an unexpected conflict and will not be able to attend the parade on Thursday.
The fire truck we hoped to use for the Varsity Team is not able to get to the parade before 2:30 pm. We have decided to use an additional pick up truck to haul the seniors and soccer managers and have the rest of the boys in the other truck and the trailer. Steve Reynolds has offered to drive his 1/2 ton truck to haul the seniors and managers.

Big Game Tonight!
Metro Sports will be filming tonight’s Varsity Game against Lee’s Summit. Varsity tied them 0-0 at the Blue Spring’s Tournament. Time Warner’s TV guide shows the airing of the game on Friday at 7 pm on channel 311 (MS2).
Homecoming Float
Last year we had a pick-up truck and a flat bed trailer for the homecoming float. We have 10 more players on West’s Boys Soccer Team than we did last year and will need to add another option so all the boys can participate in the parade. We are looking for a 3/4 or 1 ton truck to pull the flat bed trailer and another option for the additional players. We will not be having a team float building party this year. The planning committee decided to keep it simple (no pomping). We have decorations for the back of the trailer and plan to have hay bails on the trailer for the boys to sit on. We encourage them to wear khaki shorts (not their uniform shorts) with their soccer jersey. (the hay can be very itchy so they might also consider bringing something to sit on (towel, trash bag, etc)
The response I received regarding the soccer team being in the front of the parade was that we needed to be there by 1:30 to reserve our spot in line.
I was informed this morning that the boys will not be going directly to practice – they will have study hall beforehand. I will bring the apparel to Wednesday’s game and distribute them during the first half of the JV game (4:45-5:45) and leave them behind the concession. I need to have everyone sign their name on my list that they picked up their apparel.

I will be dispensing the apparel before practice. Please have your son looking for me on their way to the soccer fields before practice. (The Polos should be available on Wednesday and I am still waiting for the ETA on the scarves)

JV and Varsity vs. Lee’s Summit (5:00 pm/6:30 pm)

Bus will be departing around 1:30 pm. The coaches will provide pizza for the return trip.
SNACKS
The boys under 16 typically hang out at West until their soccer game. Players can either bring their own snack or have parents coordinate providing healthy snacks for the team. I will leave it up to each team to coordinate.
Kathleen Fearon and Kim Visconti have offered to provide a light snacks before the JV/Varsity game on Monday. I would like 2 volunteers from the JV and Varsity Teams to help coordinate snacks for the ride to Columbia on Friday. Please email me directly if you can help.

TEAM BUILDING DINNERS
Team dinners are typically held before a big conference game. A Varsity Team Dinner will be held on Sunday, September 16th by the Fearon family and on Sunday, September 23rd by the Douglas family. More information will be coming.
HOMECOMING & HOMECOMING FLOAT
West’s Homecoming Parade has moved to THURSDAY, September 27th at 3:30 pm. West had conflicts with Down Town Lee’s Summit’s Octoberfest. All soccer teams have home games Thursday evening: C Team vs. Liberty North has changed to 5:00; JV vs. Park Hill JV at 5:00 pm; Varsity vs. Park Hill at 6:30 pm. We need to have the C team and JV team players back at West as close to 4:30 as possible. I plan to ask if our float can be first in line so we can get back to the school ASAP.
